Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza 2004 Fact Sheet

Released: 07/01/04

Centrally located in the dynamic Westshore business district just steps from International Plaza and Bay Street, the distinctly different Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza represents a new brand and a new level of service for Tampa's business and leisure travelers.

Scheduled for completion early August 2004, this latest addition to the elite rank of Renaissance Hotels & Resorts properties joins the eight Renaissance properties currently operating statewide and the more than 125 worldwide.

Renaissance Hotels & Resorts is a full-service hotel brand designed to enhance the enjoyment of guests. Stylish environments, crisp, attentive service and contemporary restaurants represent the defining characteristics of the Renaissance brand.

From its inception, this hotel has marked a milestone for the Tampa Bay market as well as for Marriott International. The eight-story structure is the first Tampa Bay hotel built by the Orlando-based CNL Hospitality Corp. as well as its first Marriott in Tampa.

Constructed adjacent to International Plaza, hotel guests may exit directly onto Bay Street, the outdoor plaza, to access world-class shops, fine dining and nightlife. Only minutes from Tampa International Airport, the property also offers convenient proximity to the bridges connecting Tampa with the Pinellas County area and its world famous beaches, the area's major sports facilities like Raymond James Stadium and Legends Field, the downtown Tampa business sector and Ybor City, Tampa's famous Latin Quarter and former "Cigar Capital of the World."

The Mediterranean spirit and style reflected by the new Renaissance is best expressed through the tale of two young lovers, Sergio and Gabriella. The couple meets during a business trip to Spain that Gabriella embarks on soon after inheriting her father's Tampa-based cigar business. After marrying, they return to Tampa where they build their dream home that is modeled after the Mediterranean villas of the Costa del Sol. Inviting touches like the lushly landscaped courtyard, hand-glazed tiles and custom ironwork make this hotel - their "home" - a true masterpiece.
